“No matter what I do, it’ll probably forever remain a pipe dream that will never come true.
But the fire burning in my heart cannot be doused by anyone.”
…that’s my pride.

[ Shura ]: Reunite with the Vatican Ninja!

vaticanninja:

Shura Kirigakure had nearly given up on her search for her protege at this point. She had been to this city once before, and it had been pure dumb luck that the snake woman had found Rin so early on in the game. Perhaps he had disappeared from this city just as quickly as she the first time around. Perhaps two bastard demon children weren’t quite what the scientists had in mind for their little social experiment, eh?

If Rin really wasn’t here, the horizons expanded greatly for that vacation the vatican ninja had been hoping for, a retreat to do nothing but drink and fuck around. Ahaha. She rather liked that idea. The edges of her mouth snaked up into a closed-eyed grin, eyes pressing shut and revealing slight crows feet. Yes, wouldn’t that be great for her! She hardly ever got to laze off with tightasses like Yukio and Angel riding on her all the time. Shura began to strut away from the area she had been searching, going at a lazy pace and kicking her feet up into the air slightly, hands clasped behind her neck.

“Hehehe, wouldn’t that be nice?”

But in all seriousness, here or back at True Cross, Rin needed a teacher, he needed to learn to control his flames, and without her there to contain him, he posed a serious threat. The fiery-haired drunk had a responsibility to keep that boy alive, she had made a promise to Shiro to do so, and she intended to keep it. A promise that important to a person that important was not to be ignored, not at all.

And as if on cue, the obnoxious voice of her teenage protege ripped through her somewhat sobering thoughts. Shura, spinning on her heels and rolling her arms out of their position with a shrug, turned to face her approaching student with a lopsided grin. The swordswoman raised a calloused hand in a lazy wave, placing the other on her hip.

“Well look who finally decided ta show up. Yer late, kid. Ive been lookin’ fer ya fer a long time, and I was startin to get bored.”

The teacher let out a drunken ‘hehe’ before reaching out with both arms to drag the son of Satan into her waiting bosom, her usual method of saying hello, before she began to drag him back to whoever knows where to continue their training. No ifs, ands, or buts. “Come on, lazy, we have trainin ta do, and I aint waitin on yeh to mingle any more, ya got it?”

Dark blue eyes stared curiously at the woman, determining if this was yet another ploy by the sadistic scientists. The last time the pairing met up within the city was months ago, before the chaotic events that defined Rin’s paranoia. Before the apparent death of his twin brother. Before the disappearance of a close friend. It wasn’t as if he was a social butterfly to begin with, but so many events helped to change the course of his thinking. Maybe there had been some form of natural maturation while being in solitude.

Due to his heroism, the demonic heir had reclaimed one of his most prized possessions: the Kurikara. Whether he liked it or not, he had an advantage over a majority of the city. Not only did he have his signature weapon in grasp, but his ability to summon forth his feared blue flames remained in tact and his familiar also accompanied him. With all of these skills in tow, the rest of his stay within the infamous Hive City had played out more akin to a curse than a blessing. His emotional well being had been completely disregarded. In an environment where illusions merge with reality, one’s mind can be driven to the point of insanity.

“Oi!! The hell are ya talkin’ ‘bout, teach?! I’ve been here for months, yo. You’re the one that’s gotta get in line, heh. ‘Sides, ya ended up leavin’ me out here in the cold. Don’t ‘cha think ya owe me for that at least?”

Even his wardrobe seemed to be a little homely. Tattered, even. Could it have been because of his job(s)? Okumura had quite a few—one as a fighter, one as a chef, another as a worker. He wasn’t double-booked, more like triple-booked. Hey, at least it was enough to keep bread on the table while his roommates weren’t around. Speaking of which, he hadn’t met ANY of them. At this point in the game, Rin needed someone to socialize with.

His teacher arrived at a very opportune time considering the fact that he was one of the few remaining with almost all of his possessions. She could further mold his skills and help him control his flames better! It wasn’t as if he wanted to play the hero, but someone needed to step up to the plate. The scientists’ needed a wake-up call, and Okumura would gladly be the one to serve them a nice heaping of extreme ass kickin’.

Out of nowhere, his sensei grabbed him and began striding off into the urban environment. Her attitude was as fiery as ever. A bit of stress lifted off of him. As much as he did or didn’t care for her approach, he missed her abrasiveness.

“B-but.. wait, can’t we at least get somethin’ to eat..?”
